Websites
How much does a business website cost in Australia
The short answer
A straightforward service business website, built properly and ready to take enquiries, usually lands somewhere between $2,000 and $6,000 with a competent local builder. Below that you are buying a template with your logo on it. Above that you are paying for custom functionality, and the number depends entirely on what the site has to do.
The build price is rarely where the real difference sits anyway.
What moves the number up
Pages and content, obviously. But the expensive parts are the parts people do not think about at quote time. Booking systems. Customer portals. Payment. Integrations with your CRM or job management. Multi-location structures. Anything the site has to do rather than say.
Content is the other quiet driver. A site that needs thirty pages of properly written copy costs more than one with five, because writing takes time and someone has to extract the words from your head.
Where the hidden costs live
Hosting and domains. Ongoing maintenance. The freelancer who built it taking six weeks to answer an email when something breaks. The plugin renewal you find out about when the site goes down.
The worst hidden cost is the site that cannot change. If every small edit needs a developer and a fortnight, the site stops evolving with the business and quietly becomes a brochure from two years ago.
The quote that looks cheap
Offshore template builds are fine until you want something specific, at which point the price is whatever the change costs that week. You are also buying the maintenance relationship as much as the build. Websites are not paintings. They are infrastructure.
A useful test for any quote: what happens in month four when your pricing changes and you need a new page.
What we build and how we run it
Fast sites on a phone, wired into follow-up so enquiries land where your team works instead of in a form inbox nobody checks. Hosting, backups and updates handled by us, and changes are part of the relationship rather than an invoice every time.
If a five page site is what your business needs, that is what we will recommend. The quote follows the need.
Questions worth asking before you sign
Who writes the content. What is included in maintenance. How quickly do small changes happen. What happens if you want to move the site elsewhere. What is not included. Five minutes of questions saves a year of friction.
